Hello Solen Sioux Parents and Guardians!!
I am SO excited to announce that we have partnered up with Ronald McDonald again this year to bring to our school the Dental Care Mobile Unit! They will be here on Monday, August 31st !! They provide FREE dental checkups as well as any dental work that your student may need done!! I have received quite a few applications back. If you have not gotten a chance to fill out an application I will be sending applications home with students today. Please return ASAP! If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call.

Elementary Cross Country (Grades 3-5) begins today after school!
REMINDER: Today after school is the first Junior High (5th & 6th grade) Volleyball practice in Solen. Coach will leave Cannon Ball with 5th grade girls at 3:00 dismissal and will give girls rides home after practice. Included in this post is the tentative schedule of practices and games (subject to change) and the guidelines and expectations for this volleyball season. Copies will also be sent home with players, please review them. We are proud to see how many students are participating in the sporting activities provided this Fall and look forward to the upcoming season. GO SIOUX!!!

We have had a great few days of school already. With that, we have received reports of indiviudals passing the school buses when their stop sign is out. When the school buses have their stop signs out, traffic must stop. This is solely for the protection of the children getting off of the bus. Any driver observed not adhering to the stop sign will be reported to law enforcement.

📚 Cannon Ball Elementary Student & Family Handbook
Cannon Ball families, please be on the lookout for our **2026–2027 Student & Family Handbook** coming home with your child!
Our classroom teachers will review the handbook with students so that everyone understands our school expectations and what it means to show **PRIDE** at Cannon Ball Elementary.
The handbook serves as a commitment between our **students, families, and school**. By signing it, students are promising to do their best to follow our PRIDE expectations:

We also want our students to understand that everyone makes mistakes. When an expectation is broken, our goal isn't simply punishment. Students will be expected to **take responsibility, make restitution when appropriate, learn from the situation, and work to make things right.**
We ask families to review the handbook with their child, talk about these expectations at home, **sign the acknowledgement, and return it to your child's classroom teacher.**

📱 Well… our front office phone cart was looking pretty popular today! 😂 We might have collected more cell phones today than we have in the last few years combined!
But in all seriousness, we are excited to welcome our students back for another great school year at Solen High School!
A reminder for families: this year, students must turn in their cell phones to the front office cart each morning, where they will be locked and safely put away for the school day. Students did a great job turning them in today. And don’t worry—our front office staff is always available if you need to call and get an important message to your child.
Also, we are asking you to please call the front office and share your email address so we can send you important updates throughout the year.
We had a great first day! Our drum group helped us open the school year, we introduced our staff, and students received their schedules. We are also already getting started with our fall assessments!
Students, remember to get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast, and come ready to learn each day.

Our junior high and high school teachers are busy learning Step Up to Writing strategies today. We're excited to bring new tools and strategies into our classrooms to strengthen student writing and support learning across all subject areas this year!
