We hope you all have a wonderful break. School resumes Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Teacher shout out alert!
Congratulations to Sarah Morin for being the Rural School Collaboratives Place Based Grant winner from North Dakota!! As a hub of the Rural School Collaborative, NDSOS (North Dakota Small Organized Schools) member schools' teachers may apply for the Place Based Grant. An award of $2500 to support the project. Congratulations Sarah!!
North Dakota had six applicants and our very own Mrs. Morin was selected for North Dakota. Way to go Sarah!!
Below is a description of her that was published:
"Sarah Morin is a 6th-grade teacher at Solen Public School District, where she has taught for 14 years. She integrates culture, creativity, and hands-on learning into her classroom and has experience leading STEM and arts-based projects through Sunday Academy and school initiatives. Outside of teaching, she enjoys crafting and designing student-centered activities. Sarah is excited to launch a place-based Craft Club that celebrates community, culture, and creativity."
By creating Craft Club, Sarah seeks to connect students with the culture, history, and natural resources of south-central North Dakota through hands-on making. The club will serve as both an artistic outlet and an educational opportunity by weaving together traditional crafts, modern creative expression, and place-based learning. Students will explore crafts rooted in the region– such as beadwork, textile design, woodworking, and recycled-material art– while learning about the local stories, values, and environments that inspire these practices. That learning will be built upon community partnerships with local artisans, elders, and artists. Students will culminate the project by creating murals, decorative items, and community displays that will strengthen their sense of belonging, creativity, and pride of place.

We are incredibly grateful to Northwestern Mutual and Quinn Eggert for their generous donation of a Student of the Month yard sign for Solen Public Schools.
Beginning with next month's students of the month in January 2026, at the start of each month the sign will be placed in the selected student’s front yard and then picked up at the end of the month, giving families and community a special way to recognize and celebrate their student’s achievement.
Community partnerships like this help us highlight student success and show our students how supported they are. Thank you to Northwestern Mutual and Quinn Eggert for investing in our students and helping us celebrate their accomplishments.

Don't forget dress-up days this week!
Also, Jr high and high school students have finals Tuesday and Wednesday. Make sure to get lots of rest and do your best!

On Wednesday, December 10th, our students were invited to Wozu to take part in the real-life skinning and butchering of a deer that was harvested for an elder. Experiences like this connect our younger generations to lifelong skills, cultural knowledge, and the importance of food sustainability.
A big Wopida to Wozu for welcoming our students and sharing this learning opportunity. The kids had an amazing time and walked away with memories (and lessons) they won't forget.

Elementary students are working hard rehearsing for their concert. Concert is tomorrow, starting at 1:30!

All after school events are cancelled today. This is due to the forcasted weather and potential road conditions.

HS welding students are to take the bus to school today.
There will be a two hour late start today, Thursday, December 11, 2025 due to icy road conditions..
