January got a little cold towards the end, so Pre-K decided to bring a little more movement indoors and set up an obstacle course to work on our gross motor skills!!
This is February's Night Light Calendar. This month, we will continue doing some STEM activities and using the Waterford app to strengthen our reading and math skills this month.
Computer Science 2 students are learning programming using code blocks. 🤖 These code blocks make their game characters move around the maze! Good job techies! ✨💪🏼
The Elementary Student Council will be participating in Valentine Sales starting Monday, February 2nd through Wednesday, February 11th. The council members will take turns operating sales of stickers, candies, balloons, and coloring pages from 1:30-2:00 those afternoons. Students and classes are welcome to come down to the cafeteria and purchase items ranging from $0.25-$2. There may be new items that appear, so make sure to visit more than once!
The council members have decided to save profits towards fun end of year school activities. Asia, Cece, Kataliya, Peyton, Aries, Scarlette, and Kamily work hard to make a difference in their school! (Not pictured: Caylee & Harmony)
Yesterday, Mrs. Becka's WIN reading group all passed their Assessments with 100%! Today they got floats and ice cream as a reward. Noah was awarded as Student of the Month for always being on time, having a positive attitude, and giving 100% effort with everything he does!
REMINDER: Ms. Hock's 1st grade class is having a bake sale tomorrow, Friday 30th.
Solen Public School Distict will have virtual instruction tomorrow January 23, 2026. Both school buildings will be closed. Student materials were sent home with students on Wednesday.

All junior high and high school students received work from their teachers today should there be a decision to have a virtual learning day in the next two days. Any student who was absent today will be given the work when they return to school. Students can email teachers with any questions regarding assignments. Please watch for updates from the district on any announcements and closures.

Your child will be bringing home **two virtual learning packets** as a precaution in case we need to cancel school due to winter weather. These packets would be used **only if there is no school on Thursday, January 22, and/or Friday, January 23**.
If school is canceled on either of those days, we ask that you take some time to work through the packets with your child and **return the completed packets to their classroom teacher**. If school is canceled and packets are not returned completed, your child will be marked **absent** for the day(s) missed.
If we **do have school**, everything will run as normal and the packets will **not be required**—though they are a great option for extra practice at home if you choose to use them.

With the extreme cold weather predicted for the next two days, we will be sending materials home with students for potential virtual days for Thursday and Friday. This does not mean the decision has been made to go virtual, we are just making sure we are prepared. A decision for tomorrow will be made this evening or early tomorrow morning.
As for today, weather and conditiions will be assessed throughout the morning and afternoon. Any changes to the school day will be communicated once decisions are made.

6th grade students will be traveling to SBC tomorrow to explore traditional Dakota plants at the Agricultural Building. They will be leaving at 12 pm and returning before the end of the school day. Please contact the high school with any questions.
