6th Grade students finishing up a STEM challenge- Ancient Mesopotamia Cuneiform Coding

Today we had Dr. DeCoteau in our school. She spent time with administration and then ended the day with a whole staff professional development.

🌊🚢 Sailing Into Problem-Solving! 🚢🌊
Today, students took on the challenge of designing and building aluminum foil boats! 🛠️✨ After carefully crafting their vessels, we set them afloat and tested their strength by adding pennies as weight. 💰💪
It was amazing to watch them brainstorm, collaborate, and adapt their designs as they worked to keep their boats afloat for as long as possible. 🧠⚓ Who knew so much STEM learning could happen with a few sheets of paper, some water, and a whole lot of creativity? 💡📐

💻🧵 Beading + Coding: A Creative Connection!
Did you know that students can apply the precision and sequencing skills used in beading to understand coding? Both activities require attention to detail, following patterns, and breaking down tasks into small, manageable steps. Just like coding, each bead is like a line of code that contributes to creating something beautiful and functional! 🌟
By connecting hands-on creativity with logical thinking, students in Mrs. Willis' HS Computer Science class not only learned art but also worked to strengthen their problem-solving and coding skills in November. It's a perfect blend of creativity and tech! 🌈👩💻👨💻 #STEM #CTE #BeadingAndCoding #CreativeLearning
