Another surprise for our students! Dennis Zotigh met with our students at the National Museum of the American Indian. While also at the museum, our students met with students/teachers from Maryland who want to zoom call with our students to discuss culture and the history of Standing Rock!

Lanie and Xiomara decided to try the Frybread at the National Museum of the American Indian. The verdict is 50/50. We are excited to be headed home tomorrow. Thank you again for everyone that supported this trip! See you soon!

We can't say thank you enough to Senator Hoeven and his staff who gave Xiomara and Lanie almost 1 hour of time to listen to our students. Our students got a chance to voice the issues facing youth on Standing Rock!

Don't forget to join us for our Impact Aid/ Indigenous Policies and Procedures meeting from 4:30 - 5:00 today in the Cannon Ball Elementary School lunchroom.

Xiomara is enjoying the Jefferson Building at the Library of Congress! Weather is still very cold and windy. We will be headed to the Supreme Court next!

Although the weather in DC has changed the inauguration, our students are still working hard and exploring the city. I will have some more updates later. Send these students some positive thoughts and we look forward to sharing our experiences when we return.

Third grade showed off their creativity by making puppets. They turned out great! 😊

Pre-Algebra students spent the day showcasing their knowledge of the Pythagorean theorem through problem solving.

I am really proud to be taking two Solen Students, Xiomara Cottonwood and Lanie Belle Miner, to the Presidential Inauguration on 1/20/25. Also while in DC, our 2 students will be participating in democratic simulations with other students from across the country and meeting with Senator Hoeven! I personally want to thank the students guardians, the school board, the Monarch Project, the local Cannonball District, and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe for making this trip possible! Mr. Kerns

The 6th grade students are reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. They did a Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans activity. 🖤

Exploring Career Decisions students have been focusing on communication this week. Each student made their own talking stick to help them learn to share respectfully.

Game Day!
Come cheer on the Lady Sioux!!!

MARSHMALLOWS AWAY! Mrs. Ferguson's class built marshmallow catapults today. The students then tried to launch their marshmallows into a cup. Some also tried to launch it into their mouths. Fun was had by all!
